What do you do with a public art collection that has many stories to tell, but no exhibition space of its own? 

Apples & Pears brings the unique and eclectic collection of the City of Graz into the limelight, presenting the inspiring rediscovery of its rich miscellany of works together with artists and the people of Graz. The book explores the art and outreach projects of Graz, Deine Sammlung: the exhibitions Abriss by Alfredo Barsuglia in the villa district and misc. by zweintopf on a square in the heart of the city, guided tours of the city hall, and Navaridas & Deutinger’s performance The Things We Do at the art storage depot. Selected artworks are paired to reveal the unexpected narratives we can trace when we search for hidden connections. And finally, the previously unresearched history of the collection itself is told here for the first time.
