In the archive of Ina Weise, there is a collection of photographs of her grandmother and mother, all wearing garments that have been passed down through the years. In the textual and visual research project Das sieht nach dir aus ("It's so you"), Ina Weise explores the multifaceted meanings of clothing. For clothing not only survives across generations but can also connect them.

A piece of clothing – many stories. In "Das sieht nach dir aus", Ina Weise juxtaposes photographs of herself, her mother, and her grandmother—all wearing the same blouses, jackets, and trousers—but at different stages of their lives, in different contexts, and in various locations. Recreated and retold. Parallels emerge, but also differences. Above all, however, a connection is revealed. The photographs not only document the past but also make visible how garments connect three women from different generations, their life worlds, and the contrasting political systems of the former GDR and today’s Federal Republic of Germany.
