SPECIFICS
The publication accompanies the exhibition "Bucolica" by Anna Hulačová (b. 1984, Sušice, CZ) at Kunstraum Dornbirn. In the historic assembly hall, the Czech sculptor unfolds a scenery poised between utopia and dystopia: hybrid beings and machines made of concrete, ceramics, wood and honeycomb – steeped in ancient mythology, bucolic poetry and references to Socialist Realism – negotiate the idealisation and industrialisation of agriculture and the tension between humans, machines and nature. Hulačová's masterful fusion of folkloric craftsmanship with a distinctive, forward-looking formal language opens up a perspective on our present that is as critical as it is hopeful.
The catalogue documents the exhibition with installation views by Günter Richard Wett and brings together an interview with the artist by Thomas Häusle and an exhibition text by Sina Wagner. The design is by Studio Stefan Amann.
