Over a period of more than three years, a steadily growing art project took shape in the Limmat Valley, a river region northwest of Zurich, engaging with the diverse contexts of this unique area. The Limmat Valley is strongly influenced by the metropolitan city of Zurich and its surrounding agglomerations, while also encompassing partly untouched landscapes located on the fringes of industrial and residential zones.
At the invitation of Swiss curator Christoph Doswald, 25 renowned artists—including Lara Almarcegui, Tobias Kaspar, Olaf Nicolai, Karin Sander, Alec Soth, Oscar Tuazon, and Beat Zoderer—developed site-specific works that addressed the pressing issues present in the valley and made them accessible to a broad audience. ART FLOW is an art project capable of resonating far beyond the Limmat Valley, as it focuses on pervasive themes such as deindustrialization, globalization, migration, environmental conservation, cultural identities, and gentrification.
